GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66

Geni and I our winding down our time in Beautiful Arizona, we have a week left here at sundance resort. We spent a few days in the Grand Canyon last week (next blog) and took Route 66 from the start of it in Arizona at Coolsprings mile marker 165 to Williams Arizona where we headed North to the Canyon. Geni and I rode this part of RT66 in 2001but we were on a Harley that we rented in Phoenix, It still looks the same 17 years later! I always wanted to stay in a old style Motel and we did in Kingman. It was pretty cool too, the old rooms were still pretty much the same as in the 40's when the El Trovatore was built. The owner also owned the Flamigo in Vegas so a lot of the big music acts would stay over night here before they arrived in Vegas.

For those of you that are not familial with RT66, its called the mother road of highways. It was built in 1926,The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in the United States, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles. Many family's in America would pack the station wagon full and head out for their vacation to the west coast on RT66.
It would travel thur small town America that had main streets with movie theaters, dime stores with soda fountains, old style dinners with big cheese burgers, its sad to see these small towns no longer are around!
