THEM BONES - Dinosaur National Monument

Geni and I spent our final week before we go back to work in Rangely, Colorado. We really got to decompress here in this wonderful small town in the middle of nowhere. We camped in the City park and were the only people there! The town is so small the only bar in town is only open 3 days a week.
The town is only 30 miles from Dinosaur National Monument so we decided on a day trip there to explore the bones.
Dinosaur Park lies on the border of Utah and Colorado, half the park is in Co. and the half is in Ut.
We visited the Utah side because it had the Dinosaur Exhibit. The eastern side we were told is really remote and stunning.

They actually built the exhibit building around the dinosaur bones. When they were discovered in 1909 The Carnegie museum in Pittsburgh led an expedition to unearth a large portion of the fossils.
Many of our Dinosaur Exhibits in large metropolitan cities came from this find of fossils.

The canyons around Rangely and the Dinosaur park were full of ancient rock art that is 800-1000 years old! This area was inhabited by the Fremont Indians.
