Part #2 - IDAHO HWY 12 - The Middle of Nowhere

PART#2
After an awesome time at the Rodeo we headed back down to Hwy 12 and headed East about 50 miles to our camp at Apgar campground. We spent 8 days camped along the Lochsa River. In those days we seen maybe 10 people and two of those were Forest service employees!

We took two hikes in that time one just across the road and into the virgin Clearwater forest, what a climate change it was as soon as we entered, huge 100 foot pine trees, ferns, moss, it felt like a rain forest inside.

The second hike was 10 miles East to Split Bridge where we crossed the pack mule suspension bridge and entered into the Selway-Bitteroot wilderness. There are only a few of these bridge along the Lochsa River and they are the only way into this pristine wilderness, there are no roads only trails.

We also visited the Historical Lochsa Ranger Station that was built in the Early days of the forest service.
