Our Life in YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

It's August 15th and I am now just getting caught up in our blog. When we started this adventure we didn't realize the hard work we were taking on. We work almost full time between 35-40 hours a week! As a grill cook at the lower General store I had people lined up a 9am waiting for the store to open to get there fresh Breakfast. We were also understaffed so I was the only cook on sometimes.
I would get off my shift with a sore back and muscles . I did enjoy the experience and the wonderful people I worked with, and did learn how to cook fast and for large groups of people. However that is for someone much younger then me!
Geni and I decided to transfer to another store in the Park, we went to Mammoth General store at the North entrance and started June 1st. I am now a ice cream server at the fountain, still very busy but no 50 cheeseburgers at one time either! We are also at a much nicer campground (Yellowstone RV park) in Gardiner, Mt. We joined the 100 mile hiking club at the park and have completed over 80 miles of awesome hiking. The Park is so large and Beautiful it would take a lifetime to hike the 2000miles of trails. But Geni and I have put a really good dent in it! We have seen so many beautiful and stunning sites that we will never forget! The next few blog will be some of our awesome hikes!
One of our first hikes was a short but steep hike up to observation point. It is only a Mile hike but the elevation gain shows you the whole Old Faithful Geyser basin in all its glory! Yellowstone is a very unique park because it has 95% of the worlds active geysers, still has a active volcano, and is the largest wilderness area in the lower 48, we are guest here of all earths wild and free creatures. Over 900 Grizzly bears roam free here, bald Eagles fly unrestricted to swoop down in a wild and free flowing river to catch a wild rainbow trout to feed its babies! It really is an amazing park and we are very lucky to live here!
Elk crossing the Firehole river in early May. Still COLD and snowing!
There are 5 major rivers in Yellowstone National Park: Yellowstone, Madison, Firehole, Gibbon, Gallatin. The Yellowstone is the longest free running river in the lower 48! 671 miles of cold free running water! All are world class trout streams because trout only survive in cold, clear water.
A large Female Grizzly bear with two cubs you cannot see. The cubs will stay with her for three years to fully adapt to the wild

This is a Yellowstone Traffic jam! The park is home to over 5000 head of wild bison!

Coyote in park. Yellowstone is a complete eco system, no where else is the circle of life so real then here.
Geni and I have witnessed such amazing things, we have watched a grizzly bear and her cubs feeding on a baby elk while the Mother Elk watched and cried and tried to run the bear off! The park is home to a large Wolve population along with black and Grizzly bears! That all feed on the Bison and Elk.
